KAESP
was born January 24, 1931, out of a desire to dignify and professionalize
the elementary principalship. Some of the charter members
were: W. A. Bonwell, Wichita; Bernice Mitchell, Salina; Ida Romig,
Coffeyville; Ira Laidig, Oberlin; C. H. Gleason, Newton; May Nelson,
Kansas City; Vernon Haggott, Baxter Springs; N. J. Thiersen, Buhler;
E. C. Wine, Wichita; Clara Lamb, Kansas City; Margaret Brown,
Topeka; and Elizabeth Sparks, Kansas City.
Today
KAESP boasts a membership of over 400 active, aspiring, and
retired elementary level principals across the state of Kansas.
